Get More Out of Your Motorhome Trip with Nortrip

Are you ready to experience Norway in a completely new way with your motorhome? Nortrip gives you access to unique experiences not available to everyone. With Nortrip, you can discover hidden gems, meet local hosts, and get a taste of Norwegian culture in a way few others can.

Norway has a lot to offer, from stunning nature to delicious farm-fresh food, which is why it’s becoming an increasingly popular destination for motorhome tourists. However, with so many options and overwhelming information, it can be challenging to know where to start. This is where Nortrip’s easy-to-use guide comes in, which might explain its growing popularity among motorhome owners.

Launched in Norway in 2021, Nortrip has seen impressive growth. The concept is built around Nortrip hosts who offer members one free night of parking at each location. These hosts run everything from restaurants, farm tourism, nurseries, mountain lodges, activity centers, or honey and cider production facilities, with the aim of attracting visitors. Visitors become members of Nortrip, known as “Nortrippers,” by purchasing the Nortrip guide.

Simple, Safe, and Free

Traveling by motorhome provides great freedom, allowing you to prioritize exactly what you enjoy most. Norway, as a travel destination, is perfect for motorhome trips, especially for those who prefer more secluded locations. However, with increased traffic over the years, it has become harder to find places where you’re welcome to camp freely. Some may also feel unsafe parking just anywhere.

This is one of the main reasons Nortrip was created. Nortrippers gain access to safe motorhome parking with local hosts across the country. The Nortrip guide is available both as a printed book and as an app, and it’s easy to navigate. The descriptions in the popular guide make it simple to learn about the different hosts’ offerings. One of the key benefits of Nortrip is knowing you are welcome, and hosts can also provide tips and recommendations. And as prices continue to rise, the ability to park for free on your motorhome trip is another huge advantage.

Scenic Driving Routes

During the first summer, Nortrippers could choose between 30 hosts. Just two years later, there are almost 200 hosts across the country!

“Nortrip has become super popular, and we’ve experienced tremendous growth in the number of members. We are continuously working to recruit more hosts,” says Patrik Alesand, one of the three founders of the concept.

They are keen to maintain a good balance between the number of hosts and visitors. “The hosts should feel like they’re getting something in return for being a Nortrip host. At the same time, we need enough hosts so that visitors don’t feel like they have to wait in line or struggle to find an available spot,” Alesand explains.

A Focus on Food and Drink

The men behind Nortrip are also passionate about Norway’s growing reputation as a food nation. Interest in local food and drink has surged in recent years, as have the number of local food producers. Many Nortrip hosts are involved in this. Getting to experience local ingredients and recipes is something members greatly appreciate.

There is, of course, no obligation to make a purchase. But everyone needs food and drink, even on a motorhome trip. Many of the Nortrip hosts sell truly local food. Members can also try their hand at farming or fishing and even cook their own king crab,” teases Patrik Alesand, who is looking forward to this year’s season.

Practical Information

The Nortrip guide is available both as a book and an app, currently priced at 699 NOK for both, or 499 NOK for just the app. The guide gives you access to free parking at over 200 hosts and is updated annually to include new hosts and experiences.
