Meet host Nina Sofie at Korshåjen farm and sewing centre

On a small farm in scenic surroundings, Nina Sofie welcomes motorhome guests through Nortrip - and both she and her guests love it! We had a chat with her and found out why she thinks this is something everyone should try!

What is it like to be a Nortrip host?

- It's simply great fun! I get to know people from all over Norway and Europe, and it's exciting to hear what they've experienced during their holidays. Many come with children, and the kids are really looking forward to it. They get to meet the animals, collect eggs and sometimes even help out.

How do your guests react?

- They really appreciate it! I've had Dutch people sweeping up in the chicken coop, German adults who've never seen animals outside before, and kids who've helped me cut the leaves on the tomato plants. Many are curious and ask about old buildings, the summer barn and what things are used for.

Do you sell products too?

- "Yes, I'm selling six eggs for 30 kroner and some homemade craft products. I used to have sheep products before, but a lot of them burned down a few years ago. Now I'm sewing new things and developing further. There will be more to come throughout the year. The demand is there, and everyone buys something when they arrive. It's a boost, both financially and socially.

What do you think about the economics of hosting?

- I don't require anything to stand here. Many people have most of what they need in their motorhome anyway. For me, it's not about the money, it's about the experience - and yet I'm left with good conversations, happy guests and extra support for the farm when someone buys eggs or craft products. It's down-to-earth and real.

What does the future look like?

We're making progress! We're in the process of rebuilding after the fire. The barn will soon be in place, and towards the end of the year a lot will be finished. Next year there will be even more activity - and more Nortrip guests, I hope.

What would you say to other farms and RV owners?

- Everyone should be a part of this! Farmers get to share what they have and love, and campers get to experience something completely different from ordinary campsites. It's real, it's cosy, and it creates something nice both ways.
